The brief for this Pontypool home was simple: an outdoor space that was not getting much use needed to become somewhere to gather. The layout and materials were chosen to suit the homeowners, and the result is one broad, level sweep of paving from the back door to the boundary.
The stone is a cool grey sandstone with soft, wavy veining in charcoal and silver, laid in a random pattern of mixed rectangles. Around the edge stands a run of timber fence panels with arched lattice tops, and beyond them there is a view across neighbouring rooftops to the hills.
